This was a final year (major) project done in my UG academics on 2023 and it was a 4 membered group project. In this project, me and my team done a research work on a extruder machine which extrudes not just plastic but also metals, ceramic, glass, etc. Here the extruder can melt and extrude materials upto2000 degree Celsius. The overall process of the material extruder is the same as the process of the plastic extruder. This project also uses the injection molding method.Â
The machine operates on the principle of melting raw materials and shaping them into finished products using plastic extrusion. By modifying certain components, it can process various materials beyond plastics. The material extruder feeds raw material in powder, pellet, or granule form into a covered hopper, ensuring safety during filling. The hopper directs the material through a mesh plate to filter appropriate sizes, sending it into the barrel containing an injection screw. The screw rotates at low speed and high torque, powered by an AC induction motor, while a gearbox controls speed and increases torque.
The barrel is heated using electricity via electromagnetic induction, melting the material as it moves through zones: feed, transition, and metering. The molten material is pressurized and shaped in a mold. After cooling, the mold is removed, and the final part is extracted, completing the process efficiently.
